After our afternoon at the pumpkin patch (see below) we were not quite ready to end our day. We drove into Muscatine and went to Subway for supper and picniced at Wild Cat Den Park. It has been years since Dave and I have been there. We used to go frequently when we lived here before. So this was our first time to take the kids. It was beautiful cool evening, no bugs were out. After we finished eating we went on a hike and saw some beautiful rock formation all differnt colors it was amazing. I don't think these pictures do them justice. We didn't stay real long because it was getting dark quick.

What's UP!
Well it has been a while since I have updated our blog. So be sure to scroll down, I have added a few posts today. We are doing well. Dave is doing well at work and likes what he is doing. He is home more than he had been. We are very glad about that. He has bible study on Wednesday nights and is a Sparks Leader. He has really gotten into playing disc golf. Does really well hitting trees. Excellent tree hitting skills. Riley is doing well in school. He says he likes 2nd grade and he likes his teacher Mrs. Collins. Riley has also joined the Boy Scouts and is in his last year of Sparks in AWANA. This weekend he is working on a missions project for the Mission Conference at Church. He is making a poster saying why we need to seek the lost in Kenya Africa. He is doing it by himself and doing a good job. Cheyenne is sick this weekend with gastrointeritis. So I am home from work with her today and Riley. Riley didn't have school yesterday or today. We had parent teacher conferences this week. Anyways Cheyenne is really fulfilling her role as a terrible-two. Praise God for a creative, independent, and mischievous little girl. Wouldn't want her any other way. So right now she is sitting on the couch with her blanket watching Scooby Doo. She has colored herself with marker today. Lips, hands, fingers, and the top of her feet are a beautiful rainbow of colors. She talks in complete sentences now. Going to the potty and actually going potty and not just going through the motions is her goal now. So now I keep all of this together. My job is going well, I keep busy. I help Riley every night with homework and read to Cheyenne. Am a Sparks leader at church too. We have 5 in our group. The kids are children of friends that we have known for 12 + years (the Trivette grandchildren) and the helper in our class is Larry Hines. He was Dave's Sunday School Teacher and youth sponsor when he was going up. He is legally blind now and brings Pitney his guide dog with him. He reads with a magnifying glass very very close to his face. It is great having him in our group. He is good with the young boys. It is finally feeling like fall around here. Just waiting for the leaves to change more. Well I guess that's it for us.
Family Camping Trip
October 6th was my 29th, oops! I mean 39th birthday. I had told Dave that I wanted to go camping for my birthday. I had never been camping before. We went to West Lake. So Dave cooked over the campfire. I opened presents. I got a new fishing pole and the kids painted a wall plague for me from Painted Penguin. We went fishing. I basically fed the fish I didn't set my line so every nibble a felt was a smorgasbord for the fish. We saw lots of fish jumping in the lake and so I am sure we feed them well. They love the wax worms we bought (basically very obese maggots, YUCK!). The biggest catch of the trip was Dave's, he hooked Cheyenne's binky. Yeah!! Daddy!! After fishing we went back to the campsite and roasted marshmallows and ate smore's. Sunday morning Dave cooked scrambled eggs and sausage over the campfire. I did a devotional about being content with the things you have and that God's grace is sufficient for all our needs. We then took small sticks and said what we were thankful for and threw the stick in the campfire. Held hands around the campfire and prayed. We played a little bit of disc golf, packed up and came home. The kids loved camping. They did real well in the tent and slept good. When we got home we all crashed and slept the rest of the afternoon. We are definitely hooked on camping. It was hot but we had a great time. It basically rain leaves on our campsite all day and night.
Scrapbooking
Last Friday my friend Twyla
picked me up and we went scrapbooking until midnight. We had so much fun. I had not been scrapbooking like that in a very long time. We learned some very cool techniques. The Creative Memories Consultant (Meg) had her daugther making scrapbook die cuts out of the pasiley punch. Rebecca is her name and she is very creative. She is pictured below with a couple of my favorite creations she made.
I did three pages. One for Riley, one for Cheyenne and one about our trip to see Grandma DeLay. I forgot to take pictures of them to show you, and now I am out of batteries.
Visiting Grandma DeLay
A couple of weekends ago we went to Cedar Rapids to visit Dave's mom in the Nursing Home. She seems to be doing well. We visiting for awhile and took her out to dinner to I.H.O.P. She was in good spirits and seem to really enjoy the kids. Cheyenne even shared her lollipop with Grandma. Eunice shares heer her room with a lady named Gladys who seems very nice. She gave the kids stuffed animals.
