It's finally SPRING!

We have had some much warmer temps the last few days. It's wierd to walk outside and not need a coat or jacket. I went to Ben Franklin in Moline today after work and was amazed at all the water that is still flooding our area. Anybody working on any neat Mother's Day Projects? I am making a scrapbook for my mom to put pictures of the kids in when I send them to her (Thanks to Twyla for that idea) Riley has helped do one page. I'm not sure I'm going to let Cheyenne help. Maybe???, no markers just stickers. So gas is expensive $46.00 to fill up our little Suzuki. I think we paid $ 3.42 /gal. Everything is expensive anymore. I have to cripe the price of bananas is absolutely crazy. We were appolled (sp?) at $0.45, then $0.54, now I see $0.64 and $0.69 per pound. Also I saw cucumbers for $0.88 each not for two but each. Tomorrow Dave, Riley and Cheyenne are going on a Boy Scouts field trip to some military spot while I go to a "ICD Support Group", it's community support group for people with implantable defibrillators. I am to go to be the medical support, to help answer questions and to be an encouragement. Wednesday night we have the AWANA Banquet. Saturday I am having a Stamp'in Up Party so we will be plenty busy this week.

Shake, Rattle and Roll

I suppose you have all heard that there was an earthquake Friday and it was felt here in the Quad Cities. If I remember right it hit like at 4:40 a.m. It was a 5.2 and centered some where in southern Illinois. We were all sleeping and never felt a thing. Never knew anything happened until I got to work and people in the office were saying "Happy Earthquake Day". Well then about an hour later we felt an aftershock in the office. At first I thought it was me because I wasn't feeling good and thought I was weaving, until I realized not only was the computer shaking, the wall moving and a sound like people were running in the hall and shaking the building, then it clicked in my head that we were having an earthquake (aftershock). It lasted what I thought was a long time, like 45 seconds. I felt one other slight little one later, but nothing after that. One one girls in the office said that we are on four fault lines and are the second most dangerous sight for earthquakes, obviously California is number one. She says that we usually have 200 + earthquake a year in this area that we never feel. How does she know so much? Well, in 1988 she was living in California when the BIG one hit and collapsed bridges, disrupted the world series, etc. So she kind of keeps up on that stuff now. When I came home the birds were very loud, squaking and schrilling, no pleasant little chirping. It was like you could here the panic. So after an exciting day and an exhausting week I went scrapbooking with my friend Twyla.

Women's Ministries at Edgewood

This past Saturday we had a Women's Spectacular at church. We had a Christian Comedienne, lunch and a whole lot of fun. Michelle, the speaker we had, encouraged us spiritually to always find joy in the Lord and made us laugh out loud a good part of the day. The Women's Ministry Team did a skit or should I say a 'gig' after lunch. We lipsync'd "All I Want To Do Is Serve The Lord" a remake of Sheryl Crowes song "All I Want To Do Is Have Some Fun" or something like that. Can you guess which one is me? Our instruments aren't pictured, but I played a white base with a black rose on it. I had a solo base part in the song. We rocked the house! Pictured starting in the front left to right: Cheryl Williams, Heather Felikisak. Second row: Suzette DeLay (pink hair), Cindy Boultinghouse, Doris Rosener. Third row: Toni Sierer (red hair) and standing in he back is Sheila Kurshiak. Sheila awas our lead singer, Cheryl was on the drums, Heather on guitar, Cindy on keybords, Doris on guitar, Toni sang too. Afterwards a lady from a different church asked if we would come to her church and perform. This was our second 'gig' so to speak. At Christmas were we the 5 Amigos we were dressed as sleeping rancheros (not sure if there's pictures of that) and sang Jingle Bells in Spanish. I was the lead singer in that one and played the tamborine. Our next big event is the Mother and Daugther Banquet, May 10th. Our theme is "Pretty in Pink" P - purpose, I N , the K- Kingdom. We are going to have a fashion show and catered lunch.

Visit with Friends

I don't think I did a good job scanning their picture into the computer(you can double click on their picture to see them better) but, anyways, these are our friends Jason & Nadia Kratochvil and their family who are Church-Planting Missionaries to Nicaragua. They are here in Davenport for a few days updating our church on their ministry and on furlow until June. They were Missionary Interns at Edgewood Baptist when we moved to Traverse City 8 years ago. Nadia was actually pregnant I think when we left. Their oldest is 7 yrs. old Katie, Hudson is is 5yrs. old, Hunter is 2 yrs. old, and the baby Harrison is almost 7 monthes old. It was so good to see and briefly visit with them. They shared their ministry by video and Jason preached Sunday night. Nadia is still so skinny, can't tell she had four children. Back a couple months ago the Barkers were here and we visited with them and their family. Which is still growing. Rachel is pregnant. To see their mission work you can go to www.teamnicaragua.homestead.com to see more about their ministry.

Week of April 7th

Found some more cute pictures of the kids I thought I would share. I like to have a picture or two whenever i up date the blog. anyways, this first picture is of Cheyenne laying down in a Target shopping cart. She had really bad static in her hair, doesn't really show up in the picture though.

This picture is Riley at the Sparks O'Rama with Spark. One of those "uh, mom do I have to?" pictures. Yes, Riley, do it for your mom. It's your last year in Sparks.
Riley and I playing checkers in the John Deere Store in Moline. Riley loves checkers and plays a lot at school when they don't have an outdoor recess. We had a good time.
Pepaw and Grandma sent us oranges that Pepaw picked in Florida. This is Cheyenne trying one.
So anyways, we are doing okay. We are having a hard time keeping people healthy lately. Cheyenne had an eye infection, pink eye and a cold all at the same time. Riley had a day of vomitting. Dave had a cold for a week, and now I am trying to kick a cold and my asthma is bad. Today I finish my last dose of predisone ( I think I still need more). The weather flucuates warm and cold, rainy, sleety weather isn't helping any of us. But, we are hanging in there. So that is about the news for now.
